- High quality, durable metal hair barrette
- Nickel plated and tested to be lead free
- 30mm (1.15") in length
French barrettes can be added to any 3/8", 5/8" or 7/8" bow on the site.
French barrettes cannot be added to baby boutique bows, petite boutique bows or mini velvet bows
(due to their small size).
If you wish to have barrettes attached to your bows, simply select the quantity desired
(to match your bow order) and add to your cart. For instance, if you are ordering 8 bows and
want barrettes on them, simply add 8 barrettes to your shopping cart as well.
PLEASE NOTE: If you want barrettes added to only certain bows or sent separately,
make a special note in the "Comments" area at checkout. If I am unclear about
which bow(s)
you want your barrettes attached to, I will contact you. If barrettes ordered match the
number of bows ordered, I will assume you want them all attached.

French barrettes will be attached with the opening as shown in Option A. While the bow is upright and facing you as you put it on your dog, the opening will be on the right side. If you would prefer the opening on the left side (as shown in Option B), please make a note in the comments area of your order for it to be switched to Option B.
Please read and consider all the information below before deciding on barrettes for your bows.
I have always maintained that BowBiz bows are much safer when constructed with elastic bands instead of barrettes. However, due to an overwhelming request for barrettes, I have opted to offer them to my customers, with the following notes & caveats.
How do I order barrettes for my bows?
Simply add the number of barrettes to match your bow order to your cart (ie: 14 bows = add 14 barrettes to cart). Customizing your bows with quality 30mm French Barrettes costs only $0.99 per bow.
If you want to add barrettes to only some, and not all, of the bows you are ordering, please list the ones you'd like barrettes added to in the "Special Comments" area when ordering.
What is the best way to attach the bow with barrette to my furbaby?
A suggestion for easy placement is to put the hair up in an elastic band first, then slip the barretted bow through the hair just below the band. This will cause the bow/barrette to hold in place better and much more securely. Note that a topknot cannot be made with a barrette. If you want the look of a topknot, simply make the topknot with a band first, then slip the barrette through the hair under the elastic.
How are bows secured to barrettes?
Bows are attached with a strong glue (thread will break too easily). They are constructed quite durably however there is always a possibility of the bow becoming loose if not handled gently. Just as elastics can break, so too can barrettes become loose, detached or damaged. (If barrette comes loose or detached from the bow, carefully remove any excess glue from the back of the bow & barrette. Simply reattach barrette using a low temperature glue gun.) Personally, I have not had any problems with barrettes yet and have found them to be quite sturdy.
How durable are barrettes?
This depends on how they are handled. Although the barrettes I use are of high quality, they are small and fragile & they can break if mishandled. Naturally you should not put too much hair in the barrette or press too hard on the release bars. If too much hair is put in a French barrette, the release bar will bend and the barrette will break. Bows with barrettes should be attached like an accent with a small amount of hair.
Can every furbaby wear barrettes?
Consider if your furbaby's temperament is suitable for barrettes. Is your furbaby determined to get the bow out of its hair? Are you able to monitor your pet? Is your furbaby accustomed to wearing bows or clips in their hair?
Are barrettes safe?
Clearly you are introducing a small, hard object near your furbaby. If a barrette becomes detached, it can be potentially dangerous if chewed or ingested, plus there is always a risk of choking. Please be certain to know your furbaby's temperament and monitor them if/when necessary. (Note that BowBiz cannot be held liable for any accident or injury involving barrettes.)
Are bows with barrettes returnable?
Bows with barrettes added are considered custom-made & cannot be returned regardless of reasons.
Rest assured that each barrette is tested prior to shipping out and is guaranteed to be in perfect working order when shipped.
